Who should we celebrate? Nominate a Positive Childhood Ally.
You know those people who immediately come to mind when you think, ‘someone should recognize them for this work.’
Maybe it’s a family leader who keeps showing up and speaking up, making sure families have a real role in the decisions that affect them. Maybe it’s a family support professional who has become a trusted resource in their community. A Family Resource Center that keeps learning, growing, and finding better ways to work alongside families. An organization getting people to think differently about what children and families need. Or a leader who has spent years pushing for policies and practices that better support families. We want to celebrate!
Nominations are officially open for Positive Childhood Alliance NC’s 2027 Positive Childhood Ally Awards!
Six Ways to Celebrate Those Who are Moving This Work Forward
This year’s awards recognize people and organizations making a difference for children and families in different ways:
- Donna Stone Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual whose sustained leadership and service have made a lasting difference for children and families across North Carolina.
- Ally for Change: Policy & Systems Leadership recognizes an individual working to change policies, practices or public systems so they work better for children and families.
- Ally for Family Leadership celebrates a parent, caregiver, or family leader using their experience, voice and leadership to shape decisions and create change.
- Ally for Family Support celebrates a family support professional making a difference through their work alongside families.
- Ally for Excellence: Family Resource Center recognizes an FRC demonstrating excellence and continued growth in its work with families, including putting families at the center, strengthening the quality of its work, and continually learning and improving.
- Ally for Community Engagement & Education celebrates an organization engaging its community and changing how people understand and support children and families.

Who Comes to Mind?
That’s really where you want to start. Think about the people you’ve worked alongside this year. The person whose name keeps coming up because of the difference they’re making. The organization trying something new. The family leader changing the conversation. The person who has been doing this work for years without asking for recognition. Who deserves a moment to be celebrated?
You can nominate a colleague. A community partner. A person whose work you’ve admired from afar. An organization. Your own organization. And yes, you can even nominate yourself. Choose the award that feels like the best fit, and most importantly, tell us about the person or organization and the difference they’re making.
Nominations are open through January 15, 2027, and award recipients will be celebrated at the 2027 Learning & Leadership Summit Awards Luncheon on March 4 in Durham.
