  • Bright by Text– Register to receive FREE text messages to help you in your parenting journey, supported by PBS North Carolina. Text CONNECT to 274 448 to register.
  • Grandparents & Car Seat Safety– According to AARP’s 2018 Grandparents Today National Survey, the number of grandparents in the United States has grown 24% since 2001. Many grandparents are now primary caretakers for their grandchildren and responsible for car seat safety. Need help? Connect with a Certified Inspector today.
  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library– Smart Start and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library are working together to get books into the hands of North Carolina’s youngest children. Families in North Carolina now have the option to choose between two collections of library books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. English – Mostly English books with an occasional bilingual English/Spanish book, or Bilingual English/Spanish – All bilingual English/Spanish books. If you already receive books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and want to change the language, here’s what you do: For families with an online account: Go to imaginationlibrary.com/bos. Log in with your email. Click on your child’s name. Choose the language for the books. Click “Update” to save. For families without an online account: Contact your local Smart Start Partnership. They will help you add your email to the system. You can then create an account and choose your book language.
  • The State Library of North Carolina Accessible Books and Library Services is a specialized library that circulates books and magazines especially made for people who cannot use regular printed material because of a visual, physical or reading disability. Located in Raleigh, NC on Capital Boulevard, materials are mailed throughout the state to patrons. The library is a state agency that is operated by the State Library of NC and is a part of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, as well as a part of the network of regional libraries operated by the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled.

  • SUN Bucks Program in North Carolina– Beginning this summer, SUN Bucks will provide families with a one-time payment of $120 in food assistance benefits per eligible child.
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)– LIHEAP helps individuals and families maintain safe and healthy indoor temperatures by helping people pay home cooling bills, preventing energy shutoffs, and making homes more energy efficient. Call National Energy Assistance Referral Hotline at (866) 674-6327 or email energyassistance@ncat.org for more information about eligibility.
  • North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation Summer Learning Toolkit– Crafted with insights from providers and parents, this toolkit is designed to make summer reading an exciting journey for our young learners.
  • Welcome Baby: 4-Week School Readiness Workshop– Prepare your little ones for school with the Welcome Baby (Durham) 4-Week School Readiness Workshop. This program is designed to equip children and their caregivers with the tools they need for a successful start to school. Virtual Sessions will start on July 11th from 10am-11:30am.   • Salvation Army Job Fair– August 19, 2024, from 10:00am-1:00pm at 1300 Buck Jones Road Raleigh, NC 27604.
  • Rutherford County Movement Fest & Back2School Bash– The Rutherford County Movement Fest & Back 2 School Bash will feature fun activities, community vendors, FREE giveaways, and much more! Don’t miss out on this fantastic afternoon with your community. The event will take place on August 3 from 10am-3pm at Pavilion on Park Square (POPS).
  • Yancey County Sizzlin’ Summer Series: Back to School Bash– The Back to School Bash is back! On Saturday, August 17th from 10am-2pm, celebrate the end of summer with fun inflatables, a dunking booth, food trucks, the AMY Regional Library Bookmobile and more! Sponsored by the Yancey County Sheriff’s Department and Yancey County Schools. This program is free to the public and will be held at the Burnsville Town Square, located at 11 Town Square, Burnsville, NC 28714.
  • Save the Date! Back to School Bash at Project CATCH in Wake County– Mark your calendars for Friday, August 18th from 10am-1pm for the Project CATCH 2024 Back to School Bash! Join in for a fun-filled event with activities for the whole family. The event will take place at 1300 Buck Jones Rd. Raleigh, NC 27606.
