Positive Childhood Alliance North Carolina Receives $800,000 Grant from The Duke Endowment

Morrisville, NC (May 28, 2024)

Positive Childhood Alliance NC (PCANC — the NC chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America) has received an $800,000 grant from the Duke Endowment to invest in evidence-based child and family well-being programs.

The Duke Endowment grant will enable PCANC to continue offering crucial implementation support for three evidence-based parenting programs across North Carolina: The Incredible Years, Strengthening Families, and Triple P (Positive Parenting Program). These initiatives empower parents and caregivers with essential parenting skills and foster supportive connections within communities.

Research highlights the importance of ongoing support for the effectiveness of these programs. PCANC’s assistance helps communities by increasing the reach of these programs, making content more relevant for practitioners, aligning with community needs, and boosting practitioners’ confidence and competence in delivery.

PCANC President & CEO Sharon Hirsch expressed deep gratitude, stating, “The Duke Endowment grant allows us to continue providing data-driven coaching and professional development for the agencies supporting families and children across North Carolina. This funding is essential for providing the technical support necessary for the effective operation of these programs to nurture positive childhoods.”

This grant will play a pivotal role in reinforcing the infrastructure of these critical programs, ensuring that families across North Carolina receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
